I love that the story is intertwined with characters from City Hall, 1940s Hollywood, and a stormy, remote seaport in Ireland. P.S. The article’s main story about the Buena Vista Cafe hoarding glasses recently got semi-resolved, so you can just skip the pure San Francisco melodrama/indignation (we do it so well) and get to the good part in the middle.
